Oakland Day Treatment began in 1952 and was one of the first day treatment programs in the nation. Today we serve 18 seriously emotionally disturbed children from ages 5 to 12 who are unable to function in a regular public school setting. Each child receives individualized academic and counseling services and all participate in a highly structured therapeutic environment designed to improve academic achievement and social skills.
Services include:
- Individual, family and group therapy;
- Special education services;
- Shop and gardening;
- Sports and activity groups;
- Speech and language therapy;
- Crisis management.
Oakland Day is enhanced by the unique collaboration with Oakland Unified School District (OUSD), which provides special education teachers and instructional assistants and allows for easy access to mainstreaming opportunities. We have earned a history of high success rates in returning children to the mainstream public school environment, reducing future mental health costs.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
From the South on 580 N.:
- Take the Coolidge exit and turn right onto Coolidge.
- Turn left onto MacArthur.
- Turn right onto Laguna.
- At the top of Laguna, stay to the left and Laguna will turn into Charleston St.
- You will see EBAC's building at the end of the street.
From the North on 580 S.:
- Take the Fruitvale Ave. exit, and turn left onto Fruitvale Ave.
- Turn right onto MacArthur.
- Drive up the hill to Lincoln Ave.
- Drive up Lincoln to Alida.
- Turn left onto Laguna.
- Drive up Laguna staying to the left. Laguna will turn into Charleston.
- You will see EBAC's building at the end of the street.
From Highway 13:
- Take the Joaquin-Miller/Lincoln Ave. exit.
- Coming from the north you will turn right onto Lincoln. Coming from the south, you will turn left onto Lincoln.
- From Lincoln, turn left onto Alida.
- Turn left onto Laguna.
- Drive up Laguna staying to the left. Laguna will turn into Charleston.
- You will see EBAC's building at the end of the street.
