Clinical PART-TIME MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN – PROBATION MENTAL HEALTH

East Bay Agency for Children (EBAC) is dedicated to the health and educational well-being of children and families through specialized therapeutic, educational and peer support services.

With a staff of 150 and 200 volunteers, we serve19,000 children, youth and families via 13 primarily school based programs throughout Alameda County

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a part-time temporary opening for a Mental Health Clinician in our Probation Mental Health Services program. This position will go through the end of this school year (approximately June 15, 2012.)

License eligible MFT Interns and Associate Social Workers are encouraged to apply.

Licensure supervision provided. Bi-lingual English/Spanish language skills a plus. Responsibilities include individual and group therapy, consultation, and related duties. Interested candidates must have experience providing psychotherapeutic and casework services to youth and families in a multi-cultural environment.

A. FUNCTION:

As a member of the Probation Mental Health Program, provide skilled clinical services to high risk youth and their families; perform assessments, articulate diagnostic formulations and make recommendations; provide case work services and make referrals; consultant to teachers, school support staff, school administrators, and community partners; and related work as required.

B. QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master’s degree in a mental health discipline and license eligible with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences required.
2. Two years post-Master’s experience in clinical work with children, group and family therapy, a plus.
3. Sensitivity to the needs and life circumstances of inner city low income communities.
4. Experience providing mental health services to high-risk youth and families, particularly in diverse communities.
5. Knowledge of juvenile probation and adjudicated youth preferred.
6. Ability to work with a variety of staff and partner agencies
7. Ability to work as a Team member and contribute to program development.
8. Ability to maintain clear and complete records, meet deadlines for written reports, and compile and report monthly statistics.
9. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

C. RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide individual, group and family therapy.
2. Provide consultation to teachers, school support staff, site administrators and community partners on a variety of topics including child development, behavior management, learning styles of children, and various mental health considerations.
3. Complete comprehensive child/family assessment, formulate diagnostic picture, and communicate recommendation to school and family.
4. Planning and delivery of presentations on safety and violence issues to children, youth, and adults.
5. Provide case work services for children and families, making home visits and outside referrals when necessary.
6. Participate as member of the Probation Mental Heath Team and contribute to program development and planning.
7. Case presentation at clinical team meetings.
8. Participate in core team meetings at Target schools. Maintain charts, treatment plans, termination summaries, monthly statistics report, and other reports as required.
9. Other duties as assigned.

D. WORKING CONDITIONS and JOB SETTING

1. Agency headquarters is in a four-story building with stairs that need to be climbed for multi-level access for meetings, use of fax/copy machines.
2. Periodic driving is required.
3. Periodic lifting up to 25 pounds is required.
